At CES 2023, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) Foundation will shine a spotlight on our industry’s life-changing technologies, as well as the services our partner organizations provide to people and communities across the country. We’re excited to see a few of our popular annual events return: the Accessibility Roundtable, Pitch Competition, and Eureka Park Accessibility Contest. Across the show floor we’ll also highlight accessible technology that helps people of all ages and abilities live, work and play independently.
Accessibility Roundtable
Each year, the CTA Foundation partners with CTA’s Government and Legislative Affairs department to host an Accessibility Roundtable at CES. The roundtable draws leaders from the tech industry and disability advocacy organizations to share best practices and build stronger relationships. This invite-only discussion is set for January 4 and has a waiting list each year. If you are interested in participating, contact Dacia Turner at dturner@cta.tech to be added to the invitation list.
Pitch Competition
The CTA Foundation will host its 2023 Pitch Competition on Friday, January 6, in Eureka Park. Look for us on the Startup Stage at Venetian Expo. Startups will pitch their latest innovations to a standing-room-only crowd on the show floor. CES is packed with life-changing tech, and this event features the best of the best from Eureka Park. Winners will be selected by a panel of expert judges and the live audience, so make sure to join us and vote for your favorite companies.
Eureka Park Accessibility Contest
In its seventh year, the CTA Foundation’s Eureka Park Accessibility Contest features five startups and innovations that enhance the lives of older adults and people with disabilities. This year, contest eligibility was expanded to U.S.- and Canada-based startups, and winners were selected by a panel of expert judges who reviewed the collection of unique tech solutions to select the featured startups. Each received a complimentary booth at CES 2023 along with a $2,500 prize and recognition throughout the week.
Look for these winners to be announced at CTAFoundation.tech, and make sure you visit them in Eureka Park.
Shalam Award
Nominations were accepted for the 2022 John and Jane Shalam Award, which honors essential and innovative work in combatting social isolation. Eligible nominees include not-for-profit organizations, companies, universities or individuals who have created or implemented innovative products, research or programs that use technology to significantly combat social isolation for older adults and/or people with disabilities.
The award was named for John and Jane Shalam in recognition of their contributions to the consumer technology industry, CTA and the CTA Foundation. As founding chair, John assisted CTA and the initial Board of Trustees in developing the CTA Foundation and its mission and enhanced the Foundation’s work to help people facing social isolation connect with resources and each other.
We are pleased to recognize this year’s honoree at the Consumer Technology Hall of Fame dinner on November 15 at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York.
